JOB APPLICATIONS

  1. Draft your Europass CV. Mention all your compentences and skills.
  2. Make a list of jobs which you could apply for. 
  3. Write down which skills and comptences you need for these jobs. 
  4. Check if you have all skills and comptences by looking at your CV.
  5. Look for jobs in the UK.
  6. Make sure that you have all required skills.
  7. Learn how to apply for a job: 1, 2, 3
  8. Learn to write letters of applications: sample letters of application; exercises: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
  9. Learn to write a letter of reference. People might ask you to draft one for them:1, 2 
  10. Look at the Europass CV and the following information/exercises: 1,2
    Then rewrite your CV: Stress the skills and competences required.
  11. Write a cover letter.
  12. Prepare yourself for a job interview.
    Find information about the company/organisation.
    What should you consider before going to an interview?
    Perform a job interview with a friend of yours after having looked at one.

 

Situation/Task 1

As you are looking for a job, you ask a friend for advice. He/She wants you to make notes on the following aspects before coming to discuss your further procedure:

- What would you like to do for a living?

- Which qualifications do you need for that job/those jobs?

- Which of them do you have (mentioned in your CV)?

- Why should one hire you (instead of anybody else)?

So, you come with a list of five jobs and a list of qualifications and skills for these jobs. You discuss the both the jobs and your qualifications and skills with your friend.
